Master photographer and a master printer Duane Morgan divides his time between his studios in Arizona and Hawai‘i. He has dedicated his life to capturing images of the awesome beauty of nature.

A former pupil of photographic legends John Sexton, Cole Weston, and Morley Bear, Morgan has taken a cooperative approach to landscape photography. “Have the patience and the tenacity to go back to the same location, again, again, and again,” says Morgan, “Sometimes a dozen times and months of patience, before Mother Nature cooperates with your artist’s vision.”
Morgan also spends a considerable amount of time in the processing and developing of his images in the darkroom. “In the development, knowing what it will take to push the light values to their limits without overexposure or over-developing, is important,” relays Morgan. “Then knowledge of darkroom techniques, dodging and burning, to increase or decrease the specific values from within the image, helps you complete the effect of the finished image.”
Shooting with a medium and large format camera, Morgan develops and prints all of his own work in sizes ranging from 11 x 14 up to 48 x 96 inches. Morgan completes his printing in his studios and prints on a metal-based medium that is designed to react with light. Each piece is museum quality, sealed under a specially formulated acrylic giving it archival quality.
