Brooke Israel with Soha Living At an early age, Brooke Israel has attained what many people do not achieve their entire lives: success and fulfillment in a career they are passionate about. For Israel, that means offering exceptional interior design knowledge along with co-owning a growing home décor store, Soha Living (which stands for South of Hawai`i).  “I am so blessed,” she says, “with how well Soha is doing and the many opportunities it has given me that I couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my life.”Soha Living, located at Ward Center in Honolulu, is filled with luxury items for every room in the home. The bright and inviting store offers tropical and contemporary items that look lovely in any style of residence. Israel also offers her interior design expertise for clients who desire more personalized service. Having designed and built her own furniture, Israel has extensive experience in determining the right balance between aesthetic values versus functionality.  Israel’s mission in design is to provide her local and global clientele with a comfortable, quality lifestyle environment reflective of the ethnic Southeast Asian influences of Hawai`i’s people. Her clients and projects are comprised of local restaurants, commercial offices, hotels, local and mainland residential, and retail design.“I come from the school of bringing elements of old and new together to create an atmosphere of interest and cohesive diversity,” says Israel. “My inspiration comes from the likes of Thomas O’Brien, Barbara Barry, Barclay Butera, and Thad Hayes.” As if all of this does not keep Israel busy enough, she also recently opened a sister project called Green, which offers stylish rental inventory and flower design for special events.
