Silver Creek Furnishings and Design

Just because a home building and design company’s name evokes the Old West, there’s no reason why that firm can’t open a flourishing branch in Maui—even though its headquarters happens to be located in Utah.

Silver Creek Furnishings and Design is a case in point. The company’s headquarters is Silver Creek Development, located in Provo, UT, with satellite offices in Arizona, California and Maui. On the mainland, Silver Creek specializes in building custom luxury homes in the $3 million to $25 million range, especially those rustic and European style mountain palaces that resemble a grand hunting lodge from the Teddy Roosevelt era.

But the Maui office provides remodeling services, furniture procurement, Island-style interior design and decorating services, and high-end custom home construction to clients in Wailea, Makena, Kihei, Kapalua, and Kä‘anapali. Silver Creek offers expert interpretations of contemporary, Asian, eclectic, and traditional Hawaiian approaches to design.

To communicate Silver Creek’s values and commitment to outstanding quality, CEO Geoffrey Granum coined a striking company motto: "a spirit of dedication towards excellence." He explained that Silver Creek attempts to make every project a "perfect 10" with "no compromises on quality or craftsmanship." This is achieved through alliances with superb subcontractors and energetic attention to the tiniest details.

Silver Creek can bring the talents of its entire team to bear on any Hawaiian project. Comprising both the Maui and mainland offices, that team includes five project managers, two designers, and four on-site project directors. Granum prides himself on top quality for lower prices. "We excel in bringing mainland prices to the islands in furniture, design, remodel, and construction. This generates huge savings for our clients, tight schedules, better quality materials, and higher-end finishes. Our clients have been thrilled!"

One of the company’s interior designers is Heather Latteier, whose favorite Hawai‘i project for Silver Creek to date is her extensive remodeling of a $4 million townhome in the Ho‘olei community (Wailea, Maui). Given full discretion to run with her own design instincts and taste--an extreme rarity in this field--Latteier provided a sumptuous, Old-Hawai‘i-Meets-Contemporary theme. The homeowner was delighted, saying: "Heather provided an exquisite level of experience, taste and design savvy that was second-to-none. I am extremely pleased with the end product!"

"I love to bring the outdoor and natural surroundings into the home," said Latteier. "I focus on the views as well as incorporating the outdoor living inside. But I’ve never wanted to develop a personal design style. A true designer develops a style for their client. Whatever project I’m working on, I will never live in this home--so it should reflect the wants and needs of the homeowner."

Clearly, at Silver Creek the Old West and Old Hawai‘i make for a highly complementary pairing.
