Hawaiian Style is proud to introduce “Hawai‘i Eye” by Susan Benay. Benay is one of Hawai‘i’s most prolific photographers, whose work (through her publishing company Lanikai Sugar Co.) is sold in the island’s finest hotels and galleries as well as on the West Coast and Japan. Hawaiian Style was excited to showcase Benay’s work in our Summer Vol. 2 No. 3 issue in 2004. Beginning this month, with twice monthly updates, “Hawai‘i Eye” will feature special images captured by Benay with descriptive text by the photographer that will offer readers a ‘behind the scenes’ look into the work of a photographer and the ‘real’ life of the Hawaiian Islands. Each column will allow readers an opportunity to visit locations and meet individuals that are not normally on the tourist’s guide. We hope you enjoy this special look of the Islands and will return often to view the special places Benay will lead us all as we explore the beauty of Hawai‘i. We have white, golden, green, red, and black sand beaches, mesmerizing crystal clear turquoise oceans, lava flows on the Big Island, an incredible array of colorful, sweet-smelling flowers, and an abundance of swaying palm and coconut trees."
