“I have stood in awe of sculptured landscapes touched by the emerging light of dawn, the day's last rays and the haunting glow of moonlight,” says fine art photographer Peter Lik. “My passion for photography is fulfilled by my search for the spirited heartland of Mother Earth.” A self-taught artist, Lik has become one of the world’s most honored color landscape photographers after picking up his first camera at the age of eight. Born in Australia, Lik first discovered his love and fascination for landscape photography during a trip traveling in Alaska in 1994. That passion expanded exponentially as he discovered panoramic cameras fit his all-encompassing vision for photography much better than the limited scope of 35mm film. “It opened up a whole new world of creative possibilities,” remembers Lik, “and took me to another level in my photography.” Panoramic images also created a theme for which he has become best known: sprawling landscapes capturing natural light in remarkable, semi-abstract images. Lik has won numerous photographic awards, including highest accolades from The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), which conferred upon him the title "Master of Photography." Peter Lik’s work can be seen in his galleries in Australia, Miami, Key West, Las Vegas, La Jolla, Aspen, and Hawai‘i, as well as on his website www.peterlik.com. Marking a milestone for his career, Lik is also releasing The Peter Lik 25th Anniversary book, a limited-edition compilation of his life’s work. This compilation of images taken over the course of his 25 year career showcases over 500 of Lik’s favorite images, including hundreds of never-before released pieces. “Some people say that 25 years is a lifetime,” Lik notes. “Me? I am just getting bloody started!” To view more works from Peter Lik, find his gallery below. |
